Rita Benson is a psychotherapist who has been working with fibre arts since 2009. Her work began with fabricating nests and proceeded into wet felting tapestries and vessels, sometimes further embellished with hand beading. She also creates mixed media figures combining clay, driftwood, antique silver pieces, and other found items to form Spirit Protectors and Guardian figures. In addition, she creates beaded talismans, figures, and sculptures. She enjoys exploring combinations of colour, texture and form in her pieces which are designed to capture and symbolize life’s elements and experiences.
Rita also teaches and personally works with the processes of SoulCollage®, Healing Doll Way dollmaking and Art Journaling as forms of personal, spiritual and artistic exploration.
