Watercolour and Stained Glass Artist
After studies in graphic design and fine art, glass stoked Susan’s creative fire and became a primary creative outlet. A glass artist for 28 years, with a leaning towards contemporary and mission-style work, in this past decade she discovered a passion for painting, abstract watercolour in particular.
Why we make art is unique to every artist. For Susan, it is exploration, meditation, learning and the challenge. Everything about the process – from the “failures” to the surprising successes, and learning to embrace the happy accidents which reinforce a critical life lesson – to trust in yourself and let go of the outcome. The thrill is rarely in the outcome. She finds the greatest joy in the elusive, heart nourishing hum of finding that flow state of creating.
The intangible added benefit of making art is the most remarkable community of open-hearted fellow explorers it connects her with – like the beautiful family of Beach Studio Tour participants past and present.
